The restaurant’s delicious international buffet is ideal for big groups of friends or family. As we stepped into the restaurant, there was a mini fountain at the entrance to welcome us in. S Café is really spacious and it is decorated in a sleek modern design with many tables, thus able to accommodate large groups of guests. Also, the lighting is dimmed to make the atmosphere cosy and enjoyable. Read on to find out about the taste of the dishes!
Grilled Station 🍗
1. Pork Loin
The lean and tender portion of meat from the back of the pig is known as Pork Loin. It is a good choice for those who like leaner meat because it has less fat than other cuts of pork. The meat was really flavourful, but I feel that the meat was too dry for my liking. However, we all have different preferences, so do take my words with a pinch of salt!
2. Australian Striploin
The Australian Striploin is known for its distinctive taste and juiciness. To add on, it is popular among steak lovers as the cut has a perfect balance of lean meat and fat. The dish was served with a side of vegetables and garlic and cherry tomatoes for garnish. Personally, I like my steak to be done medium-rare, but this steak was rare, hence the texture was definitely different from my usual.
3. River Prawns
The River Prawns were extremely huge, and I was able to witness the visually appealing flambé when the chef was grilling the prawns. As for the taste, it was really delicious and my top favourite dish from S Café. The prawns were juicy and fragant due to the grilling method. The flesh was also not too hard since it was cooked to perfection. I would definitely get more River Prawns when I dine here again!
4. Seafood in Bucket
The Seafood in Bucket was served in a tiny bucket with an assortment of seafood. The contents were cooked in a flavourful sauce which adds on to the taste and enjoyment of the dish. Seafood buckets are a fun and interactive way to indulge in the food, as well as creating a memorable dining experience for seafood lovers!
Salad & Cold Cut 🥗
1. Spicy Pomelo Salad
The Spicy Pomelo Salad is a spicy and tangy dish with local Thai flavours. As pomelo is used as the base, it adds a sweet flavour to the dish as well. This dish is similar to Papaya Salad, just that instead of papaya, it uses pomelo. It was really refreshing and a great dish to cleanse your palette when you start feeling too full!
2. Sashimi
The Sashimi was really fresh and the cuts were extremely thick, thus it is absolutely worth for value. It includes raw fish such as Salmon, Tuna, Octopus and many others. The presentation was really aesthetically pleasing with the sashimi arranged in a neat and uniformed manner. Even if you are not a fan of sashimi, I can ensure that this platter is worth trying!
Seafood on Ice 🦀
There was many assortments beautifully plated on the Seafood on Ice such as Oyster, Alaska King Crab, Black Mussel, Blue Swimmer Crab, and Red Shrimp. However, I only had the Alaska King Crab as I am not a big fan of the others. The Alaska King Crab was really fresh and juicy, I could not stop reaching out for more. If you enjoy eating crab, this dish is a must-try!
Carving Station 🍴
There are different dishes on different days of the week. Below is the respective schedule:
Wednesday – Grilled Tomahawk
Thursday – Roasted Lamb Shank
Friday – Salmon Pie
Saturday – Roasted Beef with Herb
As I went down on a Friday, I got to try the Salmon Pie. The pie was stuffed with a generous portion of salmon meat, which was definitely a big plus point. The salmon was cooked to perfection as it was not too hard, and it had the perfect balance between texture and taste. I would prefer the pie crust to be crispier, as it would complement the dish better!
