Led by the talented duo of Chef Top and Chef Michelle, Mia Bangkok’s menu showcases captivating dishes that tell unique stories. The chef thoughtfully crafts each dish to delight a variety of palates, creating an unforgettable dining experience.
Let’s get to know Mia Bangkok!
MIA Restaurant Bangkok is a modern European dining spot in a charming two-floor blue house in the heart of Sukhumvit 26. It was created by the talented duo of Chef Top Pongcharn Russell, a Thai-British chef, and Chef Michelle Goh, a Malaysian pastry chef. Together, they have overcome various challenges with their dedicated team, earning numerous awards, including the Michelin Plate in 2021 and most recently, a Michelin Star in the 2024 Michelin Guide.
Inside Mia Bangkok, the restaurant is divided into four main zones, each with its own unique characteristics and highlights. The first room we’ll introduce is called the Dark Room. This mysterious space features dim lighting that casts a soft glow over the center of the table, complemented by deep blue-gray wallpaper, carpets, and upholstered chairs. It’s an ideal setting for enjoying a romantic dinner with a loved one.
For the ladies who love flowers and nature, the Floral Room is sure to delight. This beautifully decorated space features an abundance of flowers and plants that bring a refreshing atmosphere, along with pink upholstered chairs. Large mirrors allow just the right amount of light to filter in, making it a perfect spot for enjoying a meal and capturing beautiful photos to remember the moment.
If you love vibrant colors, the Color Room is another inviting space within the restaurant. This semi-private area features dividers between each table, creating a semi-intimate atmosphere.
It is furnished with green velvet chairs or sofas, complemented by classic floral wallpaper and carpets that evoke a nostalgic yet elegant charm.
If you’re looking for true privacy, right next to the Color Room is the hidden room known as the PDR or Private Dining Room.
This space is perfect for large family gatherings or dining with a corporate team. The interior is adorned with stylish lighting, plush carpets, a large dining table, and comfortable seating for over ten guests.
Course Menu
The restaurant’s menu features a European style infused with Asian flavors, using the finest locally sourced ingredients from Thailand. The dishes are presented in a fine dining format, with options such as the Taste of Mia (8 courses) priced at a special rate of 7,500 baht, down from the regular price of 7,886 baht. There’s also the Vegetarian Taste of Mia (8 courses for vegetarians) available at a special price of 6,700 baht, reduced from 6,944 baht.
Additionally, the Lunch Set (for lunch courses) is available for reservation on Saturdays and Sundays at a special price of 3,900 baht, down from 4,425 baht. Reservations can be made through Hungry Hub.
This time, we’ll try the Taste of Mia course, starting with the Ostra Regal Oyster | Bloody Mary | Tomato Water. This dish is inspired by the well-known cocktail “Bloody Mary,” which Chef Top greatly enjoys. It features exquisite Ostra Regal oysters from Iceland, cultivated in France, served with Bloody Mary jelly and cucumber oil, creating a delightful pairing.
When it comes to snacks, these are dishes that can be enjoyed in a single bite. In the Taste of Mia course, four different snack items are served after the Ostra Regal Oyster. Occasionally, the menu may change, but on the day that Hungry Hub visited, the snacks included:
- Red Prawn Tartare | Siamese Pomelo | Cocktail Sauce
- Taramosalata Tart | Smoked Salmon | Tobiko
- Chicken Liver Parfait Cigar | Quince | Cocoa Nibs
- Spiced Pork Jowl Taco | Apple Compote
Sourdough Brioche | Shallot Butter | Onion Ash
This brioche is a symbol of love, originating from the relationship between Chef Top and Chef Michelle Goh, who first met by chance in a dressing room. Their bond developed when Chef Michelle invited Top to smell the yeast she was using, which has since become a part of their love story. Chef Michelle continues to use that same yeast for her bread, and this brioche has remained a signature dish at Mia since the beginning.
Ajo Blanco is a soup that marks Chef Top’s first foray into the culinary profession. This Spanish cold soup differs from the typical hot soups served in Thailand. The dish features macadamia nuts, cashews, pineapple juice, and Andaman crab blended with sour cream, topped with thinly sliced grapes to complement the soup’s flavors.
Hokkaido Scallop | Bluefin Tuna | Truffle Ponzu | N25 Caviar A favorite dish of the chef, featuring a combination of ingredients sourced from both the sea and the land. It includes Hokkaido scallops, bluefin tuna, N25 caviar, truffle ponzu, and kohlrabi pickled in sake. This dish offers a truly immersive experience of the flavors of the ocean and the earth.
Smoked Eel Chawanmushi | Bone Marrow | Ikura
A chef adapted a Japanese-style chawanmushi soup to fit the season. It features ikura, bone marrow, and smoked eel, enhancing the texture and flavor of the soup for a richer, more balanced taste.
The Local Corn Fed Baby Chicken | Textures of Corn | Albufera Sauce
Highlights baby chicken brushed with a traditional white sausage sauce made from pork, Parmesan cheese, and truffle underneath the skin. The dish includes grilled corn salsa, plum jam, and watercress salad, all drizzled with Albufera sauce, a classic French sauce that deepens the flavors.
To finish off, we have a sweet treat for dessert lovers: Mia’s Cereal Bowl. This elevated take on cereal takes luxury to the next level. The dish features a smooth Milo cream at the bottom, paired with homemade chocolate cereal and crispy popcorn. The dish features a topping of corn ice cream and cornflake milk, creating a delightful sweet combination that explains its popularity as a menu favorite.
